Social justice starts with us adults doing our own work,
so we have tools and the ability to be self-reflective.
And then, modeling antiracism for our children
and bringing in the resources to educate them.
Antiracism work begins with looking inward and understanding your biases. When discussing race with children the time is always now! Studies have shown that children start to notice race at 6-months-old. As we are doing our own work as adults to have the tools to acknowledge and provide counter messaging to our own biases, we can also work on modeling anti-racist action for our children and having direct conversations with them discussing their race, what is racism and how to be anti-racist.
